While I love fltplan go (been using it on android for a while), one thing to keep in mind is that the android version and the iOS version are not the same. Android development seems to be a few months behind the iOS version, and some features that are listed in the user manual for iOS (such as rubber banding for route planning) are missing from ... IIRC FltPlan Go was the more polished of the options out there; Avare's charts were fugly. (This was all about a year ago.) But at the end of the day, if you try an iPad with ForeFlight you'll see what the hype is about. (It helps if you think of it as a cheaper GPS 696 or other dedicated aviation piece of hardware/software, vs. an Apple device... TUTORIAL | FltPlan Go for iPad Tap the Binders icon on the Dashboard. On a recent flight we got to try Fltplan Go when connected to a Garmin Flight Stream 510, and came away impressed. While Fltplan Go is not as polished and powerful as the Garmin Pilot app, it still packs a number of useful features into a free app, including weather and flight plan transfer. Not sure if I saw this mentioned...if you go Foreflight you are limited to ipad or iPhone only. And if you go that route, i believe you'll need a cellular version to have a internal gps. Otherwise you'll need something like a Garmin Glo (works with ipad and android) or a full on ADSB-IN device like the stratus, stratux, or Garmin gdl39.

ForeFlight looks amazing on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s stunning Retina display; however, this option will leave you with a little less elbow ... Garmin doesn't charge extra for synthetic vision, Foreflight does, but neither is worth a crap without an ADHRS box like a GDL50 or Stratus 2. ForeFlight's suggested routes are typically silly for most /G aircraft. I don't think I've ever used a ForeFlight recommended routing. Also, in my experience, Fltplan is slightly more accurate with winds aloft and estimated enroute time. I usually use the Fltplan ETE in the flight plan block when I file. But I file and brief through ForeFlight. Ryan McBride, ForeFlight's lead product designer, walks you through the basics of ForeFlight, from choosing and buying an iPad, to navigating the different "views" in the app, to planning simple flights. If you're just getting started with ForeFlight, this course is for you.
Foreflight vs FltPlanGo with X-Plane 11 Foreflight was great for the Baron but isn't adequate for the Phenom. Foreflight doesn't have a sophisticated airspeed vs fuel vs altitude model like Fltplan. Also, it doesn't handle the SID, STAR and jet routes very well. I am not a big fan of FLtPlan's user interface but it gets the job done. I still use Foreflight to have legal charts.
