To get the most out of compilations, making them more navigable in your music library, you need to treat them differently to other albums. I tried using a keyword like "Various Artists" as album artist, but then if I filter by genre for example, a lot of tracks appear under "Various Artists" instead of the "artist" tag. Thanks for the response, though it didn't really address the issue. I already have the album sorting together and so long as compilation is checked it doesn't seem to make any difference whether Album Artist is blank, or filled with 'Various", it seems to have the same effect. If you have an album with multiple artists, each track should have the correct artist marked in an mp3 tag, and an "album artist" marked as well which is the same for all tracks (but doesn't necessarily match the track artist).
